Highlights

When in Antiparos, please consider a stay at our Beach House Antiparos, in the magnificent calm of Apantima beach, where we’ll be happy to have you as guests in out eight carefully designed rooms, or at our restaurant and bar. A variety of services and activities will wait for you there, and when you rent one of our properties you may certainly consider Beach House as your Head Quarter in Antiparos.

The village, “Chora”, is the small center of the island of Antiparos, characterized by white cube-shaped houses, blue doors and windows, picturesque balconies full of flowers and decorations, a traditional Cycladic architectural style. There is one main street in Chora, leading from the small harbor up to the pretty little square of St Nicholas and the invariably white church of the same name dating from 1783. Along the sides of the street are numerous bars, restaurants, souvenir shops, independent fashion shops and very good restaurants, representing different regional cuisines, Greek tavernas and a choice of Italian, French and fine dining fish restaurants.

The island offers a variety of beaches, mostly sandy and unspoilt with a fabulous sea and seabed rich in fish and marine flora. The best beaches on the island are certainly Monastiria, a small intimate and secluded bay with a beautiful sea, perfect for snorkelling. Among the most beautiful beaches is considered the beach Livadi, intimate and not very crowded, and those in Agios Georgios, one of the most appreciated, on the western side, near the homonymous village, 12 kilometres from Chora. Or Glifa beach, one of the best on the island, in the south, 6 kilometers from Chora. But along the roads to these two beaches you will find a myriad of other wonderful coves where you can bathe and lie in the sun on the golden sand – such as the widely praised beach of Faneromeni.

If you want to spend a day away from the sea, it is also worth visiting the Kastro of Antiparos, the ruins of the old medieval Venetian castle in the centre of the village, surrounded by a fortress, and the four ancient churches: Christos, Agios Antonios, Agios Ioannis and Agios Nikolaos. Nine kilometers south of Chora is one of the island’s main attractions, the beautiful cave on the promontory of Agios Ioannis in the south-eastern part of the island. The cave has a veritable collection of stalactites and stalagmites inside. It is a large underground cavern 100 meters deep discovered during the reign of Alexander the Great.

Outside the cave you can also admire the small white church of Agios Ioannis Spiliotis, built in 1774, where on 7 and 8 May each year the faithful gather to celebrate St John of the Caves. Alternatively, you can opt for a wonderful day trip by boat to discover the coastline and hidden corners of Antiparos that cannot be reached by land.

During your stay in Antiparos, don’t miss the opportunity to see the island of Despotiko, a 5-minute ferry ride away, which apart from its beautiful beaches and crystal clear sea, is a place rich in history, as evidenced by the archaeological site dating back to the 7th century BC, of which several artefacts have been brought to light, including a temple consecrated to Apollo, gold jewelry, statues and precious ceramics.

Geographic location
